Integrated Farm Management

Farm is a unit that is to be considered and planned for effective integration of the components to be combined with crop production activity on many factors like availability of resources, land, labour and capital. The components of Integrated Farm Management (IFM) include crops, fish farming, poultry, pigs, cattle, sheep and goat, fodder production, kitchen gardening thus referring to agricultural systems that integrate livestock and crop production or integrate fish and livestock. The aim of the book is to raise awareness of the issues and challenges of IFM and to provide strategies to ensure sustainable use of the natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations, minimize risk, increase total production and profits by lowering external inputs through recycling, improving the utilization of organic wastes and crop residues. IFM provides an approach to a steady and stable farm income ensuring food security and poverty alleviation. The book attempts to explore the potential of IFM and provides valuable insight to addressing the problems of sustainable economic growth for farming communities in India.
